The Geely Coolray is all kinds of cool – no pun intended. We think that this subcompact crossover is one of the best on the market at the moment based on what it offers. The power and the practicality of the Coolray are hard to beat, and there are other brands that offer the same feature-set for a much higher price tag.
There are a ton of features on the Coolray, but here are 5 things about it that set it apart from the rest of its competitors.
The 360-degree camera
Now, a subcompact crossover can have a 360-degree camera, the Coolray has a system that stitches everything together and creates a virtual environment that’s displayed on the infotainment screen, complete with a three-dimensional rendering of the car. With data coming from the cameras and the software putting it all together, it’s a page out of Grand Theft Auto.
Digital Shifter
We’re all used to the gated or traditional levers found on all sorts of cars, but the Coolray employs a digi-shifter that is fantastic in feel. Though there is a bit of a learning curve that comes with it, the piece of kit is undoubtedly cool.
Turbocharged engine
While other cars in its segment have naturally-aspirated 4-cylinder engines, the Coolray has 3 pistons, but with a turbocharger to make more power and torque. It tops many of the other cars in its class with a healthy 177 hp and 255 Nm of torque. It can even outpace compact sedans with its power and torque figures, which is something else.
It’s a budget Volvo – in essence
Now, this is a bit of a stretch, but then, Geely is the owner of Volvo, and they have been for quite some time now. It’s hard not to link the two brands together because Geely’s build quality is on a different level compared to its rivals, and is handsome inside and out. While it doesn’t have all the bells and whistles that Volvos have, the bones are there. All the switches and surfaces have a great feel and density to them. The interior, even with a splash of red, is tastefully done with hints of texture scattered throughout. It’s a looker.
The price
Well, it’s not technically a feature, but we rank the Geely Coolray in the value for money department quite high. For a little over a million pesos, the crossover just hits the nail on the head for style, performance, and practicality for its segment. Sure, you can get other cars that are more affordable with 7-seats or more storage space, but those cars don’t perform like the Coolray, nor do they look like the Coolray, nor do they have an interior like the Coolray. For a little over a million pesos or even for a hair under 7-digits, the price tag of the Coolray may make you bring out your checkbooks.
