Compact SUVs and crossovers are among the most practical cars out there. Good for both in city and out of town trips. Out of all the options in the market today, the Ford Territory stands out thanks to its styling, performance, technology, and all-around versatility.
We have quite a lot of experience with the Ford Territory, both in its previous and current iterations. And it goes without saying that this vehicle packs quite a lot of punch when it comes to value. Be sure to check out our full review on the 2024 Ford Territory Titanium X, as we surely had a lot to say about this groundbreaking vehicle. And while we raved quite a lot about the car’s performance outside of the city, we were eager to get a taste of its performance within the confines of the urban jungle.
Ford Philippines recently held a media drive around the city, giving participants an in-depth immersion in the history and culture of the Philippines. Of course, the star of the show was none other than the next-generation Ford Territory. Meant to showcase the capabilities of the crossover, the tour also immersed participants in the metro’s rich history and culture, all while highlighting the strong points of the new Ford Territory. Let’s take a look at some of the features that make this vehicle so special.
A car that’s got your back
The tour kicked off at the Presidential Car Museum, offering a deep dive into the historical vehicles used by previous Philippine presidents. Meanwhile, Ford Philippines seized the moment to highlight the Territory’s remarkable Active Park Assist feature. This technology is a boon for drivers uneasy with tricky parking scenarios, as it essentially enables the vehicle to park autonomously. Just align it with a parking spot, and the car effortlessly parks itself, whether it's parallel or reverse parking.
Approachable performance
As the tour continued, we made our way out of the Presidential Car Museum and onto the open road. The Territory’s spacious interior provided quite a lot of comfort, and not to mention, a very relaxing ride. As we navigated the traffic-laden urban jungle, we got a firsthand taste of the peppiness of this crossover. It’s powered by a 1.5-liter ecoboost turbocharged engine with 158 hp and 248 Nm of torque, and while these figures aren’t exactly neck-snapping, they’re more than enough for an engaging drive around the city and on the highway.
Impressive technology
As we were embarking on our urban expedition, we took the Territory to the Skyway, where we were able to try out some of the car's fancy features. The Adaptive Cruise Control feature took center stage as the Territory maintained a consistent following distance with the car ahead, automatically slowing down and speeding up depending on the pace of traffic. Additionally, Ford’s Lane-Keeping Aid and Lane Departure Assist served as an extra layer of protection—a handy feature for weary adventurers.
A user-friendly design
One thing that stood out was the Ford Territory’s user-friendly interface. Once you enter the driver’s seat, you’re treated to an assortment of controls that's pleasing to the eyes. Clean lines envelope the cockpit, with a large screen serving as the instrument cluster and infotainment system. Climate control switches are conveniently located just below the screen, right in front of the drive selector. For extra convenience, there’s storage space both above and below the center console, where the power outlets can be found. At the back, there are AC vents and a handy USB charger, too.
Incredible value for money
With all these features and tech on the table, it’s pretty hard to believe that Ford is offering the Territory at a price tag starting at P1,335,000. This price tag goes up to P1,599,000 for the top-range Titanium X model. It’s interesting to think that just a couple of years ago, the technology we see in the new Territory could only be had on vehicles that cost double, if not triple the price of the Ford Territory.
