We managed to get our hands on the Ford Bronco for a week in Hawaii. It is the Outer Banks variant with the Sasquatch package which gives it a 4.7 final drive ratio, electronic-locking front and rear axle, beefier suspension lift kit, 17-inch beadlock capable wheels, 315-wide-35-inch mud terrain tires, and wider flares to accommodate all that upgraded footwork.
This particular Bronco is also equipped with the optional 2.7-liter V6, which makes a healthy 315 hp on regular, and 330 hp on premium fuel.
Now, the recent exit of the Toyota FJ Cruiser, not just in our market but worldwide, means that there is room for one more purebred off-roader that can go head-to-head with the Jeep Wrangler. Some may argue that current Pickup Platform Vehicles (PPVs) such as the Everest, Fortuner, and Montero Sport have off-road capabilities, and while that may be true up to a certain extent, there is still a certain novelty in driving an SUV that was engineered from the ground up to be a pure off-roader.
Here in the Philippines, we have diverse landscapes and challenging road conditions, in which there is a market for consumers that demand a vehicle that can conquer any terrain while providing comfort and safety. The Ford Bronco can take a chunk of that pie, and we really hope Ford Philippines takes note of the following reasons.
Unparalleled Off-Road Capability
The Ford Bronco has a rich heritage of off-road prowess, dating back to its first introduction in 1965. Designed with the needs of off-road enthusiasts in mind, the Bronco boasts impressive features that enable it to tackle the toughest terrains in the Philippines. With its high ground clearance, advanced four-wheel drive system, and robust suspension, the Bronco can handle everything from muddy trails to rocky mountain paths with ease. Whether you're exploring the remote corners of Luzon, cruising through the sandy beaches of Palawan, or navigating the challenging slopes of the Cordillera mountains, the Bronco will get you there and back without breaking a sweat.
Granted, we were not able to really test this vehicle for its pure off-road capability during our time with it, but a lot of various testing has shown that the Bronco can clear tough off-road trails without breaking a sweat.
Versatility for All Environments
One of the standout features of the Ford Bronco is its adaptability to various environments. The Philippines is known for its contrasting landscapes, ranging from dense forests to expansive coastlines. The Bronco is available in different configurations, including a two-door and four-door model, allowing you to choose the size that best suits your needs. Additionally, the removable roof panels and doors give you the option to enjoy the open-air experience and soak in the breathtaking views while driving along scenic routes like the Halsema Highway or the Pacific Coast Highway. Whether you're exploring the urban jungle of Metro Manila or embarking on a wild adventure in the wilderness, the Bronco can effortlessly adapt to any situation.
Advanced Safety Features
Safety is a top priority when it comes to choosing a vehicle, especially on the unpredictable roads of the Philippines. The Ford Bronco comes equipped with a range of advanced safety features designed to protect you and your passengers. From its robust frame construction to its suite of driver-assist technologies, the Bronco offers peace of mind during your journeys. Features like blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist, and automatic emergency braking help prevent accidents and ensure a safer driving experience, even in challenging road conditions. Whether you're navigating the crowded streets of Metro Manila or driving on winding mountain roads, the Bronco's safety features have got you covered.
Modern Comfort and Technology
While the Ford Bronco excels in off-road performance, it doesn't compromise on comfort and technology. The interior of the Bronco, while not in the realm of luxury, is designed to provide a comfortable and spacious environment for both driver and passengers. With its hard-wearing materials, ergonomic seating, and intuitive controls, every ride in the Bronco is a pleasure. Additionally, the vehicle is equipped with the latest technology features, including a touchscreen infotainment system, smartphone integration, and a Bang & Olufsen premium audio system, keeping you connected and entertained on your journeys. Whether you're embarking on a long road trip or navigating the busy streets of Manila, the Bronco's modern amenities ensure a convenient and enjoyable driving experience.
Iconic Style
In addition to its outstanding performance and functionality, the Ford Bronco boasts an iconic and timeless design. The distinctive boxy shape and bold grille pay homage to the original Bronco, creating a sense of nostalgia while maintaining a modern aesthetic. The Bronco's rugged yet stylish appearance turns heads wherever it goes, making a statement on the streets of the Philippines. Whether you're exploring the countryside or cruising through the city, the Bronco's unique design will make you stand out from the crowd.
So Ford Philippines, the ball is in your court. We think that if the Bronco is priced and equipped correctly, it could sell in waves and become the next darling of the Philippine off-road community.
