Despite the growing number of SUVs and crossovers in the market, some car buyers still purchase sedans. While other compact models appear to be as pricey as some crossovers, the GAC GA4 is one of the few competitors in its class that starts at just under P900,000. Despite its affordable price range, this compact sedan has a lot to offer, from comfort, tech, and performance. In fact, we were able to list down some points on why the GAC GA4 could be your next dependable daily driver.
It features a simple yet elegant exterior design
On the outside, the GAC GA4 features a well-designed exterior that’s not too loud or extravagant, though it is infused with the right amount of sportiness and elegance. Whichever variant you opt for, its front end comes with a chrome grille that’s treated with a three-slat design. Projector halogens are also standard across the range, however, only the two higher variants come equipped with daytime running lights (DRLs) and LED fog lamps, while the entry-level manual has no DRLs and gets halogen fog lamps instead.
Going over the side, the GA4 retains its elegant and sporty profile. Its body is accentuated with some well-planted lines, plus, that slightly sloping roofline gives the side profile a bit of a cutting-edge look. Depending on the variant you get, this compact sedan could either come with a set of 16-inch alloys that are wrapped in 205/55 tires or a set of 17-inch alloys wrapped in 205/50 tires.
The GAC GA4 remains well-presented up until the rear, with it having standard LED tail lights which do look good in both the daytime and nighttime. Overall, its design shall age gracefully as time passes by.
Driver and passengers are treated with a high-quality cabin
Inside, the cabin of the GA4 is treated with quality materials consisting of soft-touch and durable plastics. Space is also good, legroom, headroom, and even shoulder space are good at the back. Standard creature comforts include steering wheel audio controls, rear air vents, as well as front and rear USB ports.
Notably, higher variants of the GA4 come with an 8-inch infotainment that features various multimedia functions such as AM/FM radio and Bluetooth, however, it does not come with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. All trims come with 4-speakers along with a speed-based volume adjustment.
Trunk space is also good
Aside from its spacious interior, the GAC GA4 also comes with a spacious boot. Trunk space is actually roomy all thanks to the car’s long rear overhangs, plus it can be extended by folding the 60:40 split rear seats.
It is powered by a responsive and thrifty engine
Opting for the range-topping variant will give you a 1.3-liter turbocharged engine that’s both responsive and thrifty to run. The said mill can only be paired with a 6-speed automatic, producing 136 hp and 202 Nm of torque. Notably, power is delivered with precision, be it inside the city or out on the highway. Aside from that, the GA4 also has a dynamic steering feel, which is light during slow speeds and tight during faster runs.
Driving along with two passengers allowed the compact sedan to register 7.2 km/L during heavy traffic, while faster runs at around 60 km/h registered 13.2 km/L. Cruising at 90 km/h gave its best reading at 21.2 km/L.
It’s rich in safety as well
Standard safety and security features of the GAC GA4 range include dual front airbags, seatbelt reminder for the driver, ABS, EBD, stability control, traction control, Hydraulic Brake Assist (HBA), hill-start assist, ISOFIX child seat anchors, impact sensing door locks, an alarm system, immobilizer, and rear parking sensors. Exclusive on the turbo variant is the addition of front-side airbags and a 360-degree camera.
The affordable price range
It is currently one of the most affordable compact sedans you can buy in the market today. In terms of pricing, the entry-level 1.5 MT is priced at only P866,000, while the mid-range 1.5 AT sits a bit higher at P936,000. Lastly, opting for the 1.3 Turbo AT will require you to shell out P1,066,000.
Surprisingly, the GAC GA4 range does have a lot to offer despite its affordability. With all that said, it is indeed worthy of your consideration.
