The 2020 SsangYong Rexton officially gets a new mid-model change in the Philippines. While the 7-seater SUV still carries its familiar styling the front grille and the headlights have received a slight revision giving the vehicle a more premium look. Like its predecessor, the Rexton is still available with two variants both being powered by a 2.2-liter turbodiesel engine and comes with a 7-speed automatic transmission.
Exterior: minor changes to update the old look
On the outside, the body shape hasn’t changed for the refreshed Rexton. However, the South Korean automaker has tweaked the front just a little bit. It now comes with a new honeycomb chrome grille that tapers below the headlights. Speaking of headlights, these too have been updated for its refreshed look. The headlight housings now come with new bezel colors that have been refinished in an elegant Titanium gray. To add to this a new color option has also been added in the form of Marble Gray. The new metallic shade according to SsangYong creates a more exclusive color option for those who wish to remain distinct while going for a less ostentatious look on the road.
On the inside, the 2020 SsangYong Rexton, in its 4x4 trim continues where it left off with its premium brown stitching and quilted leather interior. It still comes with heated and most importantly cooled seats, along with an electric parking brake and drives mode selectors. Its dual-zone automatic climate controls remain the same being both easy to reach for and easy to use. It still carries with it an 8-inch infotainment system that comes standard for all variants that come with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. LED interior lighting elements are still prominent in the 7-seater SUV giving passengers a brighter source of light for the cabin. As before the Rexton also comes with a 220-volt outlet ideal for those who need to charge electronic gadgets on long trims. All in all the 2020 SsangYong Rexton still gives off the same premium feel as its pre-facelifted model.
A touch of Convenience
Giving the facelifted SsangYong Rexton a touch more convenience is the introduction of a new smart key fob for the 4x4 variant. It now comes with new functions such as headlamp activation and remote tailgate operation. Together these functions make the vehicle easier to find in a parking lot and easier to load cargo into. SsangYong states that the more stylish and functional keyfob deepens the sense of ownership and belonging for the Rexton.
A new 5-year service plan
SsangYong Philippines not only has refreshed the Rexton it has also added a new 5-year Preventative Maintenance plan to the vehicle. This new service plan goes alongside the SUV’s existing 5-year vehicle warranty. Through this new plan, SsangYong Rexton owners will be able to appreciate the longer duration of its worry-free maintenance which include the cost of oil, parts, and labor for each scheduled PMS interval. It is important to note that the new PMS plan is only good for 5-years or up to 100,000-kilometers whichever comes first.
Pricing
The 2020 SsangYong Rexton comes with a starting price of P1,760,000 for the 4x2 variant. The 4x4 variant on the other hand will come with a starting price of P2,260,000. This represents a P30,000 price increase over the pre-facelifted model.
