The latest Corvette ZR1 is finally unveiled, and it has some astonishing performance figures that will make you look twice. Serving as the “King of the Hill” in the Corvette lineup, the new ZR1 is supposed to take the Corvette to the next level, according to Chevrolet Vice President Scott Bell. From where we’re looking, though, it seems they’ve taken it way further than just the next level.
Let’s not beat around the bush and start talking about the ZR1’s performance figures, shall we? The Corvette ZR1 boasts a twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter flat-plane-crank V-8 engine that delivers 1,064 horsepower, 1,122 Nm of torque, and an 8,000 RPM redline. Also, It can reach 346 km/h and complete a quarter mile in under ten seconds. The ZR1 also clocked 321 km/h at the Nürburgring. All this power and torque is sent to the rear wheels, meaning the ZR1 is not only a car you should respect, but also fear.
The beating heart of the ZR1 is a 5.5-liter V8 dubbed the “LT7” with a flat-plane crank that includes new head castings, unique ports, a larger combustion chamber for increased power, optimized valve timing, and a new intake system. Additionally, it features a pair of 76 mm mono-scroll turbochargers integrated into the exhaust.
Being the most hardcore Corvette of the pack, the ZR1 is designed for handling corners exceptionally well. It boasts a claimed 544 kg of downforce at its top speed of 346 km/h. Enhancements for aerodynamics include a new front grille, carbon fiber air ducts on the sides and top, new splitters, rockers, an underwing, and a prominent rear wing.
For those seeking even more track performance, the optional 'ZTK' track pack adds a high-downforce rear wing, dive planes, a Gurney lip on the hood, and underbody strakes. This package also includes stiffer springs and special Michelin PS Cup 2-R tires mounted on 20/21-inch alloy wheels. Inside those wheels are 400 mm front and 390 mm rear disc brakes, the biggest fitted to any Corvette according to Chevrolet. This means stopping the Corvette is quick, though not as quick as getting it up to speed.
Chevrolet has confirmed that the C8 Corvette ZR1 will be available for purchase in 2025, though they haven’t put a price on it yet. The C8 Corvette Stingray is available in the Philippines but we can’t say for certain whether the hardcore ZR1 will make it here. Here’s to hoping.
