GAC has announced a refresh for their Trumpchi GS8 model, adding a new five-seat luxury version set to hit the market on May 28th. The new version is expected to be priced lower than the existing six-seat and seven-seat models, making luxury more accessible in the lineup.
The 2024 Trumpchi GS8 will include several configurations, such as the Navigator luxury intelligent version, available in both two-wheel and four-wheel drive, and the Dual Hybrid premium version, also available in both drivetrains. Prices for these models range from 186,800 yuan (approximately Php 1,540,050.32) to 246,800 yuan (approximately Php 1,540,050.32), offering a variety of options for possible buyers.
The first GS8 was introduced back in 2016, with the latest update in 2021. The newest update continues to impress with its looks, features, as well as functionality. The five-seat version brags its spacious space for the cargo, measuring 1120 mm wide and 2120 mm deep, along with generous headroom and legroom in the second row, making sure all passengers get to enjoy a comfortable ride.
Externally, the 2024 Trumpchi GS8 sports a more pronounced front grille while maintaining its distinctive dragon scale and exhibition wing dual-styled front facade. The SUV’s side profile is marked by a muscular design and sharp beltline, with black cladding on the side skirts and wheel arches that enhance its crossover appeal. The blacked-out B-C-D pillars create a floating-roof effect, adding a sleek, modern touch to its appearance.
For the engine, the 2024 model continues with the same options as before, including a 2.0T GDI turbocharged gasoline engine and a hybrid variant using the Toyota Hybrid System (THS), incorporating a turbocharged engine with an electric motor.
At the rear, the SUV features vertically-styled taillights with a geometric layout. Dimensions remain consistent with the previous model, maintaining a length of 5015 mm, a width of 1950 mm, and a height of 1780 mm, with a wheelbase of 2920 mm. Inside, the Trumpchi GS8 has a three-spoke multi-function steering wheel, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and a large 14.6-inch center touchscreen. The 2024 Dual Hybrid six-seat version also offers an "Executive Luxury" seating package that includes massage functions for the driver and front passenger seats, heated second-row seats, and extensive lumbar support.
The Trumpchi GS8 has been refreshed with some great new features and a luxury model that’s more within reach, but whether we'll see it in the Philippines is still up in the air. If it does make its way here, it could become a popular option for Filipinos looking to purchase an SUV.
