It’s a well-known fact that all Isuzus are built like tanks and can probably outlast their owners if serviced properly throughout the years. Every car from the brand is built to last, but competent service staff is required in order for these cars to keep their legendary reputation for reliability. Vehicles like the D-MAX and the mu-X both boast Isuzu’s legendary build quality and are now both stunning vehicles to boot. Keeping its reputation in check and providing a little friendly competition along the way, the Isuzu Service Skills Olympics awarded the best in Isuzu’s roster of service staff.
To keep things a little more interesting within its ranks and to keep its service staff world-class, Isuzu Philippines Corporation (IPC) holds the ISSO which recognizes the best Isuzu service personnel in the Philippines with a series of competitions. Now in its 17th year, the brand held its virtual awarding ceremony for the ISSO last June 17, 2022, and picked out the best individuals and teams from Isuzu’s broad network of dealerships throughout the country.
The competition covers three categories, which are all essential in the service experience of any Isuzu client, namely for Parts Staff, Service Advisor, and Service Technician.
“The annual ISSO competition is a showcase of the exceptional skills and knowledge of our aftersales representatives nationwide. Isuzu Philippines takes pride in the Filipino talent as we continue to receive Isuzu Motors Limited’s Triple Star Award for Distributor and Dealer Aftersales, their dedication and resilience even at current situation is truly commendable. Every year, this competition highlights that the quality of service our dealer network provides to our customers nationwide is at par with the global standards.”
Isuzu Calapan took home the highest rank after a four-day online skills and knowledge test that ran from June 7 to June 10, 2022. Isuzu’s lone dealership in MIMAROPA managed to bag the honor as well as this year’s Dealer Grand Champion, besting 26 other dealers who joined the competition.
The Parts Staff category recognizes individuals who excel in their knowledge of parts for Isuzu vehicles, and the grand champion was Alkaid Dellomes, from Isuzu Pangasinan.
Next up was the service advisor category. These individuals were tested on their knowledge of Isuzu service, which included tests on correct interpretation and understanding of the Isuzu Health Report. On top of this, participants’ knowledge of aftersales programs and initiatives was also part of the criteria.
Finally, the last category recognizes the best Service Technicians in Isuzu’s ranks, and the champions for this are Vicente Collantes and Reynaldo Gepulle from Isuzu Alabang. The category encompasses vehicle inspection, diagnosis, troubleshooting, and servicing. The winners will also get the chance to represent IPC in the I-1 Grand Prix Isuzu World Technical Competition to be held in November and will see Isuzu distributors worldwide compete against each other for the top titles.
