Mercedes Benz Philippines is continuing its goal of being a top player in the luxury car segment in the country by launching, the 2023 Mercedes Benz C-Class sedan. Dubbed the baby S-Class the new C-Class follows in the footsteps of its bigger brother and more.
Exterior
Much like its more luxurious brother the S-Class, the C-Class carries much of the same design language found in the flagship sedan. It comes with a unique set of headlights along with taillights that give it a premium and luxurious look. Aside from this, the sedan also sports a long hood and a short deck that gives it a sleeker appearance. It also comes with the Avantgarde exterior which gives it a new font bumper that comes with a single lover grille.
The sedan also comes with high-performance LED headlights that are paired with LED daytime running lights. To top it off, it also comes with 18-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels, and beltline trim strips finished in aluminum to complete the luxurious look.
In terms of size, this new C-Class measures 4751mm in length, 2033mm in width, and 1440mm in height and comes with a 2865mm wheelbase for more interior space. This makes it longer by 65mm, and wider by 45mm, compared to the older model. It also gets a 25mm stretch to its wheelbase also making it longer than the previous model in this regard.
Interior and tech
On the inside, the C-Class also comes with the brand’s premium interior. It greets you with a fully leather-lined interior that is further complemented by high-tech multimedia displays. At the center of the luxurious cabin is an 11.9-inch MBUX touchscreen infotainment system that comes with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard. The infotainment system also comes with the brand’s own intelligent voice control that can be activated by saying “hey Mercedes”.
Aside from the massive portrait-style infotainment system, the vehicle also comes with a 10.25-inch free-standing digital instrument cluster that shows the tachometer and speedometer. As this is a high-tech car the displace can also be changed to show navigational points of interest and media notifications just to name a few. The driver can also change the type of display they want in the vehicle as they can cycle through several display modes.
Other interesting features found in the C-Class include 4-color LED ambient lighting, power-adjustable front seats with memory function and 4-way lumbar support, dual-zone automatic climate control, folding rear seat backrests, auto-dimming rearview mirror, steering wheel paddle shifters, and an Eco start/stop function.
Power
Under the hood, the 2023 Mercedes Benz C-Class comes with a 1.5-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine that develops 167hp and 250 Nm of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a 9-speed automatic transmission. Aside from this, the luxury sedan also gets a boost in power from its hybrid system. It works by an integrated starter generator (ISG) and a 48V power supply that gathers energy and provides an extra boost under acceleration. Mercedes-Benz claims that this can deliver an extra 20 PS and 200 Nm of torque during heavy acceleration. In addition, the C-Class can go from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.6 seconds and achieve a top speed of 231 km/h.
Pricing
As for pricing the new C-Class can be had with a special introductory price of P3,890,000 for the C180 variant. The sedan is already on sale at the brand’s dealerships nationwide which include Bonifacio Global City (BGC), EDSA Greenhills, Alabang, and Cebu City.
