Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) introduced a new variant of the Strada pickup. Dubbed the Strada GLS 2WD, it now has a new engine and transmission as well as minor exterior and interior updates.
The new Strada GLS 2WD variant comes with a dark chrome grille and a brand new design for its side step plate. In addition, this pickup has 17-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels giving it a tough yet classy look.
On the other hand, 5-people can have a comfortable ride inside this pickup thanks to its Black high grade fabric seats and class-leading legroom of 1,745 mm. This Strada also has a leather steering wheel, cruise control, and paddle shifters (for the AT variant).
As for safety, the Strada GLS 2WD comes standard with features such as Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD). It also includes Mitsubishi Motors’ proprietary body construction called Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution (RISE), which absorbs collision force and disperses it in all directions.
The real highlight of the latest variant of the Strada is its powertrain. The Japanese pickup now houses a 2.4L MIVEC ‘Clean Diesel’ engine that is said to deliver lower fuel consumption and emissions with the help of variable valve timing and lift system, the first of its kind in a diesel engine.
With all these environmental friendly features, future owners of the new Strada GLS 2WD will be happy to know that its performance isn’t sacrificed. The new engine produces 181 hp and 430 Nm of torque. The engine is coupled with either a 6-speed manual or 5-speed INVECS-II automatic transmission.
As of this writing, the new Strada GLS 2WD is already available in authorized Mitsubishi dealerships nationwide with an SRP of P1,215,000 for the manual variant and P1,295,000 for the AT unit. MMPC also offers its 3-year or 100,000 km warranty (whichever comes first) for a worry-free ownership of the Strada.
