Mitsubishi Motors Corporation will be presenting its upcoming compact crossover SUV at the 30th Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show. Before it debuts on August 10 however, Mitsubishi proudly shows off the production version design of its eagerly awaited compact crossover. The upcoming model, yet to be named, is a more subdued version of last year's XFC Concept. The design aesthetics have been retained with minor alterations such as the inclusion of conventional door handles, side mirrors replacing the cameras, and less extravagant lighting elements. Overall, however, the production version still carries the Silky and Solid concept the XFC concept had.
Along with the exterior shots, Mitsubishi has revealed the initial technical specifications of the vehicle. The model is set to feature a 1.5-liter engine, paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) and front-wheel drive. Performance specs are still kept under wraps though so we’ll have to wait for its global debut to know what this crossover is capable of. Riding on 18-inch wheels, the compact crossover rides higher than its rivals at 222 millimeters. In comparison to the locally available Xpander Cross, the crossover rides two millimeters higher than it.
Regarding its dimensions, the compact crossover measures 4,390 mm in length, 1,810 mm in width, and 1,660 mm in height. Even more good news, Mitsubishi proudly presents this new model as an all-Mitsubishi endeavor, primarily aimed at the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) region. This means the Philippines is one of the potential markets Mitsubishi’s compact SUV will land in.
After it debuts on August 10, the compact crossover will not be going on sale immediately. Mitsubishi has disclosed that full production is scheduled to commence in November, which is three months after its initial unveiling. Since the production will take place in Indonesia, the Indonesian market will be the first to receive this model.
