Mitsubishi's newest Triton, the 2024 model, has achieved a five-star safety rating from ANCAP, making it the first dual-cab ute to face the latest testing criteria. The rating applies to all the 2WD and 4WD Double Cab models currently available in Australia and New Zealand.
The new generation Mitsubishi Triton has set a high standard in safety, receiving a five-star rating from ANCAP, the leading authority in vehicle safety assessments in Australia. This distinction makes the Triton the first dual-cab ute to undergo and pass the rigorous new criteria set for 2023 to 2025.

ANCAP's testing showed that the Triton offers excellent protection for both adult and child passengers in various crash scenarios. It scored the highest marks for adult passenger safety in the front offset crash test and for the driver in several other crash tests. Children were also well protected in both frontal and side-impact tests, which really makes the vehicle's strong safety features stand out.

However, the Triton showed room for improvement in protecting smaller passengers in the back during certain tests, with lower scores for chest and upper leg safety in the full-width frontal crash scenario. ANCAP commented that while the Triton provides good protection overall, improvements could be made to offer even better safety for all passengers.

In terms of technology, the Triton includes an autonomous emergency braking (AEB) system that performs well in standard scenarios but lacks advanced capabilities for more complex accident avoidance like T-bones and head-on collisions. Despite this, the vehicle still managed to score satisfactory in the safety assist category due to its other protective features.

The Triton also incorporates a Driver Monitoring System, which meets ANCAP's requirements by alerting drivers to fatigue and distraction. However, ANCAP suggests that the system could be improved by minimizing unnecessary alerts that might distract the driver further.

With its five-star ANCAP safety rating, the Mitsubishi Triton proves to be a safe choice for anyone looking to buy. If you're looking at the Triton or other vehicles from Mitsubishi, you can find the newest models and receive a quote at AutoDeal.
