The Mitsubishi Triton brings more to the table than safety. The all-new Mitsubishi Triton has won the Design Car of the Year award at the 2024-2025 Japan Car of the Year. The award recognizes vehicles with outstanding exterior and interior design for today's drivers. The Japan Car of the Year awards, now in their 45th year, honor vehicles that premiered or went on sale in Japan between November 1, 2023, and October 31, 2024.
The Triton stood out for its rugged exterior concept, known as "Beast Mode," for toughness and functionality. The Dynamic Shield front-end with three-dimensional fenders and protective elements, improves the truck's ability to take on rough situations while keeping a good appearance.
Inside, the Triton features a Horizontal Axis setup for the dashboard, which helps drivers keep track of the vehicle’s posture during different driving situations. The interior includes soft pads for passenger safety, while the switches and dials are made for easy use, even when wearing gloves.
In case you didn’t know, the 2024 Mitsubishi Triton also scored a five-star safety rating from the ASEAN New Car Assessment Program (ASEAN NCAP). It earned 74.71 out of 100 points, covering areas like Adult Occupant Protection, Child Occupant Protection, and Safety Assist Technologies, which adds to the reasons to love the Triton.
The Triton continues Mitsubishi’s legacy of pickup trucks, which began with the Forte in 1978. Over the years, the company has produced around 5.7 million units across five generations, selling them in approximately 150 countries, which makes the Triton one of Mitsubishi’s most globally recognized models.
The latest generation of the Triton features updates to its chassis, ladder frame, and engine. The truck first launched in Thailand in mid-2023, entered the Japanese market in early 2024, and is gradually being introduced in other regions. Just another reason to love the Triton—aside from being safe with its five-star ANCAP rating, it also just earned a design award.
