Chevrolet has officially launched the all-new Spark at the 2017 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS). It comes with a new youthful look as well as a bigger engine and improved interior amenities.
The Spark features a new front end, which is highlighted by the updated dual-port grille layout, fog lamps, and daytime running lights. With this, the all-new Spark yields a mature look as compared to the outgoing model. Turning at the side, you can see that the vehicle has sharp character lines and a new set of 15-inch wheels. Meanwhile, the rear has a new taillight and bumper.
Inside, the first thing we noticed was that the motorcycle-inspired gauge cluster is gone. Replacing it is a conventional instrument panel with a 3-inch LCD display. One of the biggest changes for the all-new Spark is the 7-inch touchscreen headunit routed to 6 speakers. The new headunit is packed with Chevy’s MyLink infotainment system and can be controlled via steering wheel audio controls.
On the other hand, a new 1.4L DOHC dual VVT Ecotec gasoline engine can be seen under the Spark’s hood. This is then mated to either a 5-speed manual or a continuously variable transmission (CVT). According to Chevrolet, the new power unit can produce 99 hp and 128 Nm of torque. That’s 17 horses and 28 Nm of torque more than the outgoing model.
As for its safety features, the Spark now has traction control, electronic engine immobilizer, electric switch for the liftgate, and dual front airbags, among others.
The all-new Chevrolet Spark is now available at dealerships nationwide with prices starting at P648,888 up to P763,888. Interested buyers have 3 variants to choose from; the entry-level LT MT, the LT CVT, and the top-of-the-line LTZ CVT.
In addition, the Spark will be available in the following colors: Switchblade Silver, Summit White, Black Meet Kettle Meet, Pull Me Over Red, Son of a Gun Gray Metallic, Brimstone, and Mint My Mind. Yes, these are the actual color names from Chevrolet.
