Founded in 1916, BMW (Bavarian Motor Works) began to stretch its wings and fly as an aircraft manufacturer prior to, and in the midst of the first World War. Gaining altitude in aviation engineering, it grew to become a motorcycle and engine manufacturing firm in the 1920s, and ultimately went in to building automobiles in 1928. From its home turf in Munich, Germany, it went on to become one of the world’s highly-recognized car brands, and is synonymous for quality, perfectionism, and elegance on the road.
