Much of how the world began its automotive history was in the early 20th century, in the 1910’s and 1920’s. But the Benz’ origin dates back to the late 19th century in 1886, when its founder Karl Benz built the first ever petrol-powered car, the Benz Patent-Motorwagon. With the help of his wife Bertha as his financier, and his friends Gottlieb Daimler and Wilhelm Maybach as his engineers, the “World’s First Automobile” began to evolve, leading to the production of the Mercedes car in 1901. Twenty five years later in 1926, the brand name Mercedes-Benz was officially inked, and since then have become one of Germany’s most prominent nameplates in the global motoring and motor sports industry.
