The X7 Plus is a seven-seater crossover from Changan, and it serves as the brand’s latest SUV in the lineup to offer three-row seating since the CS95. Carrying Changan’s brand identity through its design, the X7 has the same silhouette and form as its smaller stablemates, namely, the CS55 Plus and the CS35 Plus. Aside from the overall shape, the front end of the X7 Plus has Changan’s trademark diamond-pattern grille, sleek DRLs, and red body accents, further adding flair to the SUV.
Under the hood, the X7 Plus is powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT). The X7’s powertrain puts out 185 hp and 300 Nm of torque sent to the front wheels. Drivers also have a choice between three drive modes, namely, Normal, Eco, and Sport. Equipped with numerous tech and safety features, the X7 Plus promises to provide comfort for the family and an engaging drive behind the wheel.
Launch
The X7 Plus came to the Philippines during a momentous time for the Changan brand. On September 30, 2023, Changan Auto launched the X7 Plus for the local market a month after partnering with its latest distributor, Inchcape Philippines. Coincidentally, the X7 Plus is the seventh vehicle in Changan’s Philippine lineup, making its way after the Uni-K and Uni-T SUVs.
At launch, the X7 Plus had a price tag of P1,580,000 and is only available with one variant option.
Platform, Chassis and Powertrain
Starting with the powertrain, the X7 Plus is equipped with a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine. The X7 has a front-engine, front-wheel drive configuration with power transferred to the wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. All in all, this engine and transmission combination generates 185 horsepower and 300 Nm of torque.
Changan’s seven-seater SUV has independent MacPherson strut suspension up front and a multi-link suspension at the back. The X7 Plus is also equipped with electric power steering and an energy-absorbing steering column for extra safety. The SUV rides on 19-inch tires wrapped in 225/55 size tires. Inside all four alloy wheels are disc brakes, ventilated disc brakes up front, and solid disc brakes at the back.
In order to increase fuel economy, the X7 is equipped with start-stop technology that kills the engines during brief stops like waiting at the lights. Three driving modes are also available for the driver, Normal, Eco, and Sport. As the name suggests, the drive modes can be chosen for the level of intensity the driver will engage in.
The X7 Plus’ tech features start with a large 12.3-inch high-definition touchscreen display. Powered by CarAuto, this system offers a range of convenient features, including hands-free calling, phone mirroring for both Apple iOS and Android devices, and navigation. Audio is provided by four speakers mounted on the SUV's doors.
As for driver assistance and safety features, the X7 Plus has a 360-degree reversing camera, cruise control, follow-me-home lights, tire-pressure sensors, sensor range display, collision auto unlock for the doors, a smart key, and a slew of stability control systems.
Exterior
Featuring Changan’s sleek and focused design language, the X7 Plus sports a bold and contemporary look. The X7 Plus comes standard with LED headlights and daytime running lights designed to look sharp and complement the sleek appearance of Changan’s cars.
The seven-seater is close in appearance to the smaller CS55 Plus but with a longer wheelbase and overhangs at the front and rear. This is apparent when looking at the side of the X7 Plus. The striking design of the X7 is further emphasized by the appearance of red accents on the front and at the side skirts. Also found on the sides are the large 19-inch wheels with a multi-spoke design. The rear of the X7 Plus is as striking as the front, featuring wrap-around “infinity” LED taillights and an illuminated Changan badge. Thin reflector lights can be found at the sides, curving downwards to follow the lines of the bumper cladding.
Interior
Designed to be luxurious and functional, the interior of the X7 Plus lives up to that goal. The interior is The roomy interior cabin showcases an elegant black finish complemented by stylish piano black and brushed metal accents. Both driver and passenger seats offer power adjustments and come equipped with built-in heating and cooling for enhanced comfort. The second and third-row seats provide ample legroom and a level flooring, ensuring passenger comfort. Additionally, when both rows are folded down flat, the cargo hold offers an impressive amount of space, making it exceptionally accommodating for all your storage needs.
At the center console is a large 12.3-inch high-definition touchscreen display. Safety
Changan incorporates top-tier features in the X7 Plus to ensure it meets and even exceeds safety standards. In addition to essential elements like a built-in digital video recorder, reverse camera, and parking sensors, the vehicle is equipped with a comprehensive safety suite. This includes a 360-degree camera equipped with four wide-angle cameras, advanced TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System), parking sensors, and vehicle stability controls. Furthermore, the Advanced Driver Assist System provides on-road support with features such as Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution. Passive safety features on the other hand include front passenger airbags and side airbags for the front and rear.
