The Foton TM300 Harabas is Foton’s light commercial vehicle segment challenger. Small, compact, and powered by a torquey 2.2-liter diesel engine, the TM300 Harabas has the makings of a reliable cargo hauler for the average Filipino business.
Inspired by the Foton Gratour line of vans, the TM300 Harabas carries the passenger van’s headlights and grille. In addition, the TM300 Harabas is also equipped with daytime-running lights for easier pedestrian detection.
Launch
The Foton Gratour TM300 Harabas was introduced to the Philippine market in August 2020, offering three variants, all equipped with the same cab interior and a 2.2-liter diesel engine. The TM300 is available as a dropside truck, F-Van, Wingvan, or MPV. Upon its launch, the vehicle also came with a free 3-year LTO registration, one year of comprehensive insurance, and coverage of the chattel mortgage fee.
Platform, Chassis and Powertrain
The Foton Gratour TM300 Harabas, known for its versatility as a commercial vehicle, is built on a cab and chassis platform. It’s powered by a 2.2-liter diesel engine delivering 87 hp and 220 Nm of torque, with power sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission.
Safety-wise, the TM300 is equipped with a collision energy-absorbing buffer structure and a collapsible, energy-absorbing steering column. It also ensures smooth and efficient braking with its Anti-lock Braking System (ABS).
Technology Features
Being a no-nonsense, form-over-function commercial vehicle, the Foton TM300 Harabas carries a minimal amount of tech. It features adjustable seats, a 1-DIN head unit with AM/FM radio and USB/Aux connectivity, and manual air-conditioning. Additional features include power windows, power door locks, and a keyless entry system with an alarm—features that are quite uncommon for most commercial vehicles today.
Exterior
On the outside, the TM300 Harabas is a simple, utilitarian commercial vehicle. It sports boxy proportions that prioritize cargo space over aesthetics. At the front, Foton has given the TM300 Harabas its unique brand identity by borrowing some cues from the Gratour passenger van such as sleek headlights, a distinctive two-bar front grille, and the Foton badge prominently displayed on the front.
Interior
The Foton Gratour TM300 offers a utilitarian interior, crafted from durable materials while still providing a comfortable experience for the driver and front passenger. Foton highlights that the driver’s compartment is even more spacious, offering increased elbow room, legroom, and headroom for enhanced comfort on the road. The vehicle also features a modern, ergonomic dashboard with intuitive controls and 10 storage spaces, further adding to its convenience.
