Stepping a bit higher in size from the Jolion is the Haval H6, Great Wall Motor’s (GWM) mid-size crossover offering in the Philippines. Unveiled to the world in 2020, the H6 features a contemporary and aerodynamic exterior design and is fitted with a ton of cutting-edge technologies that give it an edge over its competitors here in the Philippines.
From the get-go, the name H6 should provide you with an idea of the car’s size and where the car places itself in GWM’s lineup. Historically, the H6 was joined by other SUVs in the H line with the number after the letter H dictating the car’s size, the Haval H line of SUVs ranged from number one to nine, with one being the smallest SUV and nine as the largest. The H6 is in the middle, capable of comfortably seating five passengers in its cabin.
Unlike its place in its lineup, the H6 is the most expensive GWM car in the Philippine lineup, with the base H6 Max variant priced at P1,788,000 when it launched, a step up in price from the Jolion HEV which is priced at P1,588,00. The additional cost does come with increased goodies though, as the H6 is bigger than the Jolion in size and comes with more gadgets to play with.
The Haval H6 made its entry into the Philippine market in Great Wall Motor’s relaunch in April 2023. The H6 is GWM’s hybrid electric vehicle offering in the Philippines alongside the Jolion HEV, featuring a fresh and sleek design and a suite of tech features. At launch, the H6 had an introductory price of P1,778,000 for the Max variant while the Supreme variant with all the bells and whistles had a launch price of P1,883,000.
Like its smaller stablemate, the H6 uses GWM’s Lemon platform. This flexible platform allows for models to be built with pure internal combustion powertrains and hybrid powertrains with ease. The H6 is an HEV which stands for Hybrid Electric Vehicle, under the hood, the H6’s hybrid powertrain can put out up to 240 hp and 530 Nm of torque. All this grunt is delivered to all four wheels via GWM’s Dedicated Hybrid Transmission. Stopping power is supplied by four disc brakes, ventilated discs up front, and solid discs at the back. Underneath, the H6 has MacPherson struts at the front and a multi-link suspension setup at the rear, providing a tactile driving feel. The Haval H6 is generously equipped with modern technology and connectivity features. The standard kit on the H6 includes an infotainment system with a touchscreen display, providing access to various functions such as navigation, smartphone integration, Bluetooth connectivity, and audio controls. Other features include USB ports, wireless charging, and steering wheel-mounted controls, allowing for convenient access to different functionalities while driving. Comfort features include power-adjustable driver seats, dual-zone climate control with rear AC vents, and an automatic anti-glare rear-view mirror. Exclusive features of the top trim variant include a heads-up display, ambient lighting lamps, and power-adjust seats for the front passenger.
The Haval H6 features a modern and sleek design, riding a balance of aggressive and understated styling. It’s striking The front fascia is characterized by GWM’s Star Matrix grilled, adorned with chrome accents with LED lights at the sides. The body of the H6 is sculpted with bold lines and dynamic curves, giving it a sporty and sophisticated presence on the road. The H6 rides on either 17 or 18-inch wheels depending on which variant you get.
The interior of the Haval H6 is designed with comfort and functionality in mind. It offers a spacious cabin that can comfortably accommodate five passengers. The seats appear well-padded and wrapped in leather. The cabin layout is intuitive, with easy-to-reach controls, a rotary gear shifter, and a driver-oriented cockpit. Overall, the H6 has a well-acquainted interior, designed in a way that deceives its price tag. that On the Supreme variant option, the H6 features additional luxurious touches on the design as well as a power-adjustable driver and front passenger seats.
The party piece of the H6 comes in the form of its suite of safety features. Enhancing the safety of the driver during operation are the H6’s advanced driver aids, these include adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, intelligent cruise assist, blind-spot monitoring, rearview camera, front and rear parking sensors, and automatic emergency braking that can identify pedestrians, vehicles, and bikers. Higher trim levels offer additional safety technologies like a 360-degree camera system, an overspeed alarm that blares when you speed past 120 km/h, intelligent dodge, emergency lane-keeping assist, and automatic parking assist.
