Lexus GX Overview
Roam the earth of the Philippines with the Lexus GX 460, a mid-size luxury SUV with traditional all-wheel prowess to go deeper into the wilderness without missing home. Now sporting the Lexus’ spindle grille brand image that shows aggressive confidence, the GX still incorporates the body-on-frame construction that has been optimized for durability while improving NVH. Inside is intimately a Lexus with a luxury that exceeds expectations. With a room for eight people, you can easily configure the seating for your cargo requirements. Equipment comes plenty as standard, an electronic smart key plus smart ignition that unlocks the doors when you’re near the truck, 17-speaker Mark Levinson surround audio system, and two independent screens for the passengers at the back. When you value your family, the GX 460 also offers a magnitude of safety features to start the road trip with no doubts. Under the hood comes with a 4.6L V8 Dual VVT-i engine that gives out 301 horsepower and 438 nm of torque that should be useful in towing. Off-road capable 6-speed automatic transmission is also assisted by a limited-slip differential, 8.1” ground clearance, and KDSS suspension assures you that it can tackle any terrain possible.
- Platform, Chassis and Powertrain
-
Even if the Lexus GX is based on the Toyota Prado's platform, which is otherwise known as the LC 150, the brand has refined the model for deployment in the premium market by enhancing the rigidity and the refinement of the model. On top of that, there are also high-tech features that contribute to comfort and performance on the road which include Lexus' KDSS (Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System) + Electronically-Controlled Air Suspension with AVS (Adaptive Variable Suspension System). The suspension itself is a double-wishbone set in the front and a 4-link type at the rear. Brakes are discs all around, and while other vehicles in the class or in the lineup come with electronic parking brakes, the GX sticks to a more traditional foot brake.
As for the powertrain of the Lexus GX, it comes with a 4.6-liter V8 gasoline motor that outputs 292 hp and 438 Nm of torque, which sends all of that power through a full-time 4WD system. The transmission is a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

For the newest version of the GX, the grille is textured to resemble the RX's intake, featuring a geometric pattern that's similar to the spindle grille found in F Sport models, but with a more muscular pattern.
As for its lighting systems, Lexus outfitted the GX with three-eye bi-beam LED headlights. There are also LED daytime running lights along with LED side turn signal lamps on the side mirrors which also come with Power Folding, Heater, Interlink with Reverse Gear functions.
The GX rolls on a set of 18-inch wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires which were selected by Lexus to deliver capable on and off-road performance.
- Interior
-
The interior of the GX is all Lexus, but with a rugged twist. Being a capable off-roader for the luxury brand, however, it has some enhancements and touches that make it worthy of the Lexus badge. The interior is finished in the Lexus brand's leather seating material and can be finished in either black, brown, or red depending on your preferences. Let some light into the cabin with the power moonroof that features power tilt/slide, one-touch mode, and jam protection features.
Passengers will not have to worry about sharing the same air temperatures as one another thanks to Lexus' tri-zone automatic climate control system. Front and rear passengers get two zones each, while another system manages the air in the back row. As for seating capacity, the GX has space for up to 7 individuals in a 2-3-2 seating arrangement that can be folded away for more cargo space or more seats.
