Suzuki XL7 Hybrid Black Upgrade 2024

Suzuki XL7 Hybrid Black Upgrade Overview
The Suzuki XL7 Hybrid is a crossover/multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) based on the popular Ertiga MPV. It differs from the Ertiga with its taller ride height and a different front fascia. It's SUV-looking, with a multitude of thick undercladdings for a go-anywhere look. At the rear, the XL7 inherits the Ertiga's vertical taillights but with the addition of SUV elements like a skid plate and in some trims, a spoiler.
The XL7 Hybrid comes with seating for seven in a 2-3-2 configuration. It has a black and gray color theme, almost similar to that of the Ertiga Black Edition' but with a little deviation in some aspects. Powering the XL7 is a 1.5-liter K15B gasoline engine – the same engine found in the Suzuki Ertiga and Jimny.
- Launch
-
Suzuki Philippines launched the XL7 in tandem with the quirky Suzuki S-Presso back in March 2020. The seven-seater, based on the ever-popular Suzuki Ertiga, arrived with a launch price of P1,068,000.
On June 16, 2023, Suzuki Indonesia launched the mild-hybrid version of the XL7 featuring the same 1.5-liter K15B four-cylinder engine equipped with Suzuki’s Integrated Starter Generator. The following year, Suzuki Philippines launched the XL7 mild-hybrid on March 18, 2024, in two variant options, the GLX AT Monotone priced at P1,252,000 and the XL7 GLX AT Two-Tone priced at P1,262,000.
- Platform, Chassis and Powertrain
-
Powering the XL7 Hybrid MPV is Suzuki's K15B 1.5-liter gasoline engine. The small-displacement powerplant produces 103 hp and produces 138 Nm of torque. Power for the vehicle is sent exclusively to the front wheels via a traditional four-speed automatic. The XL7 rides on a MacPherson Strut and coil suspension at the front with coil springs and a torsion beam and coil spring setup at the rear. Stopping power comes in the form of ventilated disc brakes at the front and leading and trailing drums at the rear. The platform that the XL7 is based on is the same as the Ertiga, dubbed Suzuki's HEARTECT architecture. The seven-seater rolls on a set of 16-inch wheels featuring a diamond-cut design.
Making its debut on March 18, 2024, the Suzuki XL7 now comes with a mild-hybrid version. This hybrid version of the XL7 is powered by the K15B four-cylinder engine assisted by Suzuki’s Integrated Starter Generator (ISG) and a 12V lithium-ion battery pack. The overall system output is 103 hp accompanied by 138 Nm of torque, the same as with the non-hybrid version but like the Ertiga, Suzuki’s mild-hybrid system is for increased fuel efficiency rather than performance.
Chassis Class Compact MPV Body Style 5-door wagon Platform Layout Front-engine, Front-wheel-drive Platform HEARTECT Powertrain Engine 1.5-liter K15B gasoline engine Power Output 103 hp and 138 Nm of torque Transmission 4-Speed Automatic transmission - Driving Performance
-
Driving the Suzuki XL7 is like driving the Suzuki Ertiga with extra ground clearance. With the same engine and more or less the same dimensions, the XL7 is every bit as easy to drive as its shorter brother. Coupled with the light steering and very relaxed engine performance, the 7-seater gets up to speed reasonably, and it also handles well enough given its height and its weight. Acceleration is as expected, it's not fast, but it does have a very smooth pull with good gear shifts. The 4-speed automatic may be dated, however the fuel economy figures of the vehicle already good enough to make up for it.
- Technology Features
-
The technology inside the Suzuki XL7 starts with the massive 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality. USB and Bluetooth also come standard for the lone model of the XL7, and Suzuki also bundles in a backup camera. Also standard is a set of 6 speakers that allow for good sound performance, and Suzuki also equipped the XL7 with automatic climate control. For the driver, a dual dial gauge cluster is present along with a TFT screen that can display various functions like power delivery, torque, g force, a tire pressure monitoring system in addition to just being a trip computer and odometer.
- Exterior
-
The Suzuki XL7 Hybrid comes with Quad-chamber LED reflector headlamps that are paired to integrated LED daytime running lamps. At the rear, the MPV comes with 3D tail lamps with a light guide. Moving back to the front of the MPV, it features a front grille with a chrome surround garnish and a chrome bar in the middle. Front and rear skid plates with side claddings are also present on the vehicle adding to its SUV-like appeal. Roof rails, back door chrome garnishes, chrome-plated door handles, and glossy black alloy wheels complete the XL7's look.
Exterior color options include Magma Gray Pearl, Brave Khaki Pearl, and Snow White Pearl. Additionally, introduced in this update are Savanna Ivory Metallic and Rising Orange Pearl Metallic, each complemented by Cool Black Pearl Metallic for the roof and pillars.
- Interior
-
The Suzuki XL7's interior comes with a black and gray color theme. Black dominates the cabin while gray colors the pillars and the headliner of the vehicle. Matte silver accents can also be seen across the dashboard and on the door sides of the front doors of the MPV. The seats come in black material and can either be had in cloth or leather. The second row of the XL7 comes with a one-touch recline and slide function, while the third row which comes in a 50:50 format comes with a split and recline function.
Sliding armrests are present in the vehicle for both the front row and the second row. The front row gets the benefit of a utility box. Adjustable headrests are present in the vehicle for all the rows. Door handles come in a chrome finish. For the owner's convenience, the MPV comes with a split-type luggage board at the back. An overhead console with a map lamp and sunglass holder is also present in the vehicle. Completing the premium look of the vehicle is a soft touch premium roof lining.
- Safety
-
The safety kit for the XL7 Hybrid includes driver and front passenger airbags along with 3-point seatbelts for all passengers. Traction control and stability control also come standard, as does ABS and an engine immobilizer, hill hold control, and ISOFIX tethers.
Providing peace of mind for the driver as well as passengers is Suzuki’s HEARTECT platform which provides rigidity ensuring stable driving characteristics but also improved collision protection.
Pros & Cons
- Large 10-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
- Tasteful additions to the exterior
- Frugal gasoline engine
- Great value for money
- Interior space is narrow
- NVH insulation is only fair

I was looking to upgrade to a bigger car coming from a Suzuku Swift. I have dogs so it has to be spacious enough. I was choosing amongst the Toyota Rush, Veloz, and the Suzuku XL7. The Veloz has a lot of nice to have tech. The Rush GRS also has a lot of tech compared to the XL7. I ultimately chose the XL7 because of the ride comfort, interior space, enough features and tech to satisfy my needs, ground clearance, and the extremely fuel efficient engine. So fuel efficient it is giving my Swift a run for the money. I do not regret my purchase.

the dealer has poor after sales performance. the sales person said that we can get freebies such as car seat cover, but upon release of the vehicle and asking for the seat cover, she just reasoned out that the seats are good enough thus the cover was not needed. this feedback looks like a petty one, but my point is if they will promise a thing during/before sales they should fulfill it aftersales. if in small matter they are already not reliable, what more on bigger matter.
