Not long after its teaser video was released, the facelifted version of the 7-seater Isuzu mu-X has finally meet the eyes of the public in its launch in Thailand.
Outside, the 2017 mu-X boasts new front and rear bumpers with pairing LED headlights and taillights. Its front fascia is updated with a new grille pattern, while the fog lights get a chrome trim atop it. Meanwhile, the facelifted mu-X now runs with 18-inch wheels from the 17-inch ones that it used to have.
On the other hand, the cabin retains its visual appearance. New materials, however, have been introduced such as the soft-touch plastic and wood-like trims, while an 8-inch iConnect smartphone-compatible device is mounted above the HVAC control cluster.
Powerwise, the facelifted mu-X could be had with either a 1.9L turbodiesel engine producing 150 hp and 350 Nm torque, or a 3.0L turbodiesel engine with 177 hp and 380 Nm of torque for Thai-specifications. Additionally, the 2-wheel drive 1.9L unit comes with a choice of a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic, while the 4WD 3.0L unit is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission.
The current mu-X in the Philippines with 3.0L engine is at 163 hp with the same 380 Nm of torque. It is still uncertain whether the local mu-X would adopt the Thai-spec engine and transmissions.
