The Tang nameplate first appeared in the Philippine market in 2018 as a five-seater hybrid crossover. In 2023, with the relaunch of the BYD brand in the Philippines comes the relaunch of the Tang nameplate. In April 2023, during the 2023 Manila International Auto Show, the Tang made its comeback as a seven-seater pure electric vehicle. At the time of introduction, the Tang EV came with a price tag of P3,698,000 to indicate its status as a premium offering from BYD.

Inside, the Tang EV provides a bunch of toys for the driver and passengers to interact with. First in the set is the large 12.8-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system which provides data about the vehicle as well as the usual amenities such as the radio, Bluetooth, and GPS navigation.
For the driver, vital driving information is displayed on a large 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster. Safety
In terms of safety, BYD has equipped the Tang EV with a range of driver assistance systems to keep journeys on the straight and narrow as well as restraint systems to keep passengers safe in the case of an accident. Starting with the airbag, the Tang EV is equipped with dual SRS airbags at the front, side-mounted airbags, and side curtain airbags. Child seats can be affixed securely to the second row thanks to ISOFIX tethers located in the seats.
