Philippines welcomes the youngest member of the Volvo family in the local market, the XC40 premium crossover. It has been living up the hype across all Volvo's lineup since it was launched in September 2017. Production began in November 2017 with 13,000 orders during that time.
The XC40 sits on Volvo's new Compact Modular Architecture (CMA) platform, co-developed by the Chinese brand Geely. Upfront is a set of slim headlights with T-shaped LED running lights that accentuate the hexagonal mesh grille and the Volvo emblem. The most highlighted detail on the XC40, however, is the two-tone body finish. The black sloping roofline that naturally matches the body color makes the car attain active motion even while at rest.
Volvo is offering the XC40 in the local market with the D3 and T5 AWD variant. The D3 comes with a 1.5-liter turbodiesel engine, while the T5 variant is powered by a 2.0 4-cylinder turbocharged engine. Both are paired with Volvo's eight-speed Geartronic automatic transmission, while the T5's transmission transfers power to all wheels.
