The Changan CS35 Plus is a subcompact crossover poised to disrupt a competitive segment. It’s one of three crossovers available in Changan’s local lineup. The CS35 Plus is available in three variants: Lite, Hype, and Luxe.
Changan equipped this subcompact crossover with a meaty 1.4-liter turbocharged engine that sends power to the front wheels via a 7-speed DCT. Its list of features include a massive 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a panoramic sunroof, onboard wireless charging, and advanced active safety technology.
Launch
The Changan CS35 Plus launched in the Philippines in November 2020 as one of the three crossovers in the brand's local lineup. Three variants are available, namely Lite, Hype, and Luxe. All three variants carry a capable 1.4-liter turbocharged gasoline engine. It also comes with a 7-speed DCT and seating for 5. The crossover is well equipped as it comes with a panoramic sunroof, 6-airbags, automatic climate control, dual-tone leather seats, and a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
In March 2022, Changan unveiled an updated version of the CS35 Plus. It comes with updated styling, desirable features, and a suite of new active safety technology.
Platform, Chassis and Powertrain
Under the hood of the Changan CS35 Plus is a hearty 1.4-liter turbocharged inline-four engine that connects to a 7-speed Dual-Clutch Transmission (DCT). This pairing produces 158 hp and 260 Nm of torque.
Changan leveled up the latest CS35 Plus with features like a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth connectivity and smartphone mirroring and a TFT driver’s display. The CS35 Plus also boasts Changan’s strategic noise isolation tech called Deep Sea Silence Technology, which isolates and absorbs the exterior nose thanks to Changan’s application of 50 noise dampeners in 20 strategic cabin areas.
Rounding out the features list is a panoramic sunroof, adaptive cruise control for select variants, and a panoramic camera system with 3D display capabilities.
Exterior
On the outside, the Changan CS35 Plus features a boxy exterior design that's crafted with well-planted character lines, giving the subcompact crossover a bit of an edgy look. Upfront, it flaunts its imposing fascia that's complemented with a grille that's treated with a shiny black material along with chrome and red accents to give it a sporty look. As for the front lighting system, it features automatic LED headlamps with LED DRLs.
Going over the side, it's got an extensive amount of black cladding and chrome accents as well. Notable design cues include its floating roofline and a set of two-tone 18-inch alloys. Like the rest of the vehicle, the rear also has a striking look all thanks to its rear spoiler, horizontal LED taillights, and dual-exhaust pipes.
Interior
Opening the doors of the Changan CS35 Plus will reveal a well-appointed cabin that's treated with strong practicality points along with a generous amount of features. The driver is treated to a well-designed cabin with a D-shaped steering wheel and plenty of tech toys.
Aside from space for five people, the CS35 also has a good amount of cup holders and storage spaces. Passengers will also be thrilled with its plush two-tone red and black leather seats, plus a large panoramic sunroof which lights up the cabin finely during the daytime.
Safety
For its latest iteration, the CS35 Plus gets the Changan Safe-tech system, which includes active safety features like adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, and front collision warning.
In addition, the Changan CS35 Plus includes safety features such as a set of six airbags, an anti-lock braking system (ABS), electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD), immobilizer, security alarm, stability control, speed-sensing door locks, ISOFIX, and hill-start assist.

It's so much fun to ride CS35 Plus. We own the hype variant. Hindi nakakasawa ang looks, and performance is superb. Really like the 360 camera and the speakers sounds really good as well. Grabe ung comfort at suspension. Very seldom to feel the jerkiness na sinasabi ng iba. From driving an MPV to this, it's so different. Plastics and its built doesn't look cheap at all. Overall, this car is worth it's price. So proud to own one.

The Changan CS35+ Luxe is a great value car. It offers a lot of driving features and looks very good. What impressed me the most is the way it drives. Power is always there and it gives a very comfortable ride. Cabin space is great as well, it could fit 5 people with no problem. It only lacks minor features such as apple carplay and android auto but it does offer its own screen mirroring app. Overall I am very satisfied with the car.

After owning our car for 6 months, I'm very satisfied with the performance and the quality of the build, I just hope that we get Apple play or android auto. Especially after my First PMS lagging on the camera is gone. The only issue I have is the delay audio via Bluetooth but overall bang for the buck.

As a first time driver, the safety features this car comes equipped with made driving in the busy roads of metro manila less stressful. The most useful features for me is the 360 camera which helped me a lot in navigating indoor parking lots which are usually dark and have steep and narrow ramps and the adaptive cruise control which makes long expressway drives less strenuous. Both these features are rare to come by for cars in this price range. The only issue I had, which I think is common for imported cars in general, is the parts availability. Another car crashed into the front on my car while it was parked in an open parking before which damaged one of the front headlamps and its frame. Parts had to be replaced to fix it, it took about 4 months for these replacement parts to arrive, a quite shorter wait as compared to what I hear from car owners of other brands but it still can be faster if there's more inventory of replacement parts here in PH. Overall my experience on this car is still very positive.
