The Emkoo is a five-seater compact crossover SUV from GAC. First launched in China in 2022, the Emkoo features GAC’s ‘diamond cut’ design philosophy, taking point for the brand’s global SUV lineup. The Emkoo carries a distinct appearance, characterized by the chiseled surfaces found in the front fascia, the lack of a conventional front grille, and overall aggressive and sporty detailing. According to GAC, the Emkoo’s design is heavily influenced by sci-fi elements, bleeding into the car’s sharp lines, angular edges, and stance. Speaking of stance, the compact crossover sits on 19-inch alloy wheels complementing the car’s size and design well.
Under the hood, the Emkoo’s beating heart is a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine mated to a seven-speed wet dual-clutch transmission. This combination gives the Emkoo a combined output of 177 hp and 270 Nm of torque. GAC claims that this mill is capable of achieving an impressive fuel economy figure of 16.1 km/L.

Launch
Before the actual Emkoo came into production, the car was first previewed to the public in the form of the Vision Emkoo concept car in November 2021. A few months later, the production model Emkoo debuted in April 2022, featuring most of the design cues of the concept car but with a rather toned-down appearance. The car officially went on sale in China in August of the same year.
Here in the Philippines, the GAC Emkoo was launched on April 13, 2023, at the 2023 Manila International Auto Show. The Emkoo is available in a single variant and comes equipped with a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine mated to a seven-speed wet dual-clutch transmission. The Emkoo is available in two trim levels, the entry-level GE and the range-topping GL. GAC’s introductory prices for the Emkoo are P1,413,000 for the GE and P1,553,000 for the GL.
