Shunning the stigma of a roadster being a hairdresser’s car is Mercedes-Benz’ SL-Class Roadster. Sleek and sporty side linings and an aerodynamic body, whether roof-on or roof-off, plus it being a two-seater is more than enough to oppose the stereotypes. Yet here in the Philippines, the SL-Class Roadster appeal not so much to our wild mates, but rather to our more tamed and laid-back sirs and madams in the high-end market, in the want for some time off from the busy schedules. Soft touch surfaces, high-quality instrumentations with convenience in mind, leather interior seats, superb air-conditioning, and an assortment of tech stuffs make this top-down car a goal-worthy investment. Folding the automatic magnesium hard-top in and out takes no time, and when hidden in the trunk, can still provide plenty of luggage space. Connectivity and multimedia stuffs were never left out as well. The SL-Class Roadster comes alive via four kinds of petrol engines – a 3.5L V6, a 4.7L V8, an AMG 5.5: V8, and an enormous AMG 6.0L V12, providing extra growl and power when needed. Transmission options include a 7G-Tronic Plus AT, an AMG SpeedShift MCT 7-Speed Sports AT, and an AMG-Plus 7G-Tronic 7-Speed AT.
