Having captain seats on a vehicle does lessen the seating capacity inside the vehicle. Though given its premium approach, the aircraft-like seating provides better comfort for passengers, notably, some even get special features like power-adjustability or a leg rest.
Currently, there are a lot of options in the market that offer models available with captain seats, ranging from midsize crossovers and SUVs to MPVs and larger vans which should suitable for hauling people. So if you’re in the market for a vehicle with captain seats, then you might as well consider any of the following below.
Toyota Alphard
The Toyota Alphard has been a benchmark of luxury, with the van offering a range of convenience features to please its passengers. One of which includes its second-row captain seats that include power-adjustability for reclining and its leg rest. It’s also wrapped in beige leather for that premium feel. If you're considering going for Toyota's luxury minivan, prices start at P4,980,000 2.5 HEV CVT variant. If you want your Alphard wrapped in a more unique paint scheme, get ready to shell out an additional P20,000 because the Precious Metal and Platinum White Pearl variants are priced at an even P5,000,000.
Toyota Hiace Super Grandia
If you still want a van but something that’s slightly more affordable than an Alphard, then you should consider the Toyota Hiace Super Grandia. Unlike the Alphard, the Super Grandia is run by a diesel engine, plus, it could also carry more passengers. It has a total of four rows, with both the second-row and third-row having captain seats. Prices start at P2,783,000 for the Super Grandia Leather followed by the Super Grandia Elite at P3,158,000. Toyota also provides Luxury Pearl Toning as an option for both variants for an additional P15,000.
Toyota Innova
The Toyota Innova is indeed a common sighting on the road, as many Filipinos loved the performance and strong practicality of the MPV. While lower variants come with bench-type seats for the second-row, the range-topping V variant features a pair of second-row captain seats that are wrapped in orange fabric. Notably, it’s one of the most affordable vehicles in the local market to come with captain seats. As for the price, the Innova V DSL AT is currently priced at P,789,000.
Toyota Zenix
A new hybrid MPV in the Toyota lineup, the Zenix features captains' chairs for the V and Q variants. Coupled with the smoothness of the hybrid powertrain, the Zenix makes for a smooth and quiet ride. While the chairs at the back aren't the most luxurious, the model still stands as one of the options that Filipinos may want to consider if they're looking to electrify their family car. The Zenix lineup starts at P1,670,000 for the V variant and ends at P1,953,000 for the hybrid Q variant.
GAC GN6
Next on the list is the GAC GN6, and it’s the Chinese automaker’s contender to the ever-popular Toyota Innova. It’s even priced more affordable than a lot of the other options in the market today with its sole variant retailing at about P1,350,000.
Hyundai Stargazer
One variant in the Stargazer lineup has captains' chairs. The seven-seat MPV turns into a six-seater with this, but the tradeoff is better comfort for the longer drives. Considering that the Stargazer is already one of the more comfortable MPVs out in the market today, having the option to go with a six-seater is a nice bonus for those who want the VIP experience on a budget. The Stargazer GLS Premium six-seater is priced at P1,298,000, a P10,000 jump from the seven-seater version.
Hyundai Staria
The Hyundai Staria in its Premium trim equips its buyers with a set of extremely comfortable captains' chairs that offers tons of adjustability and even seat cooling and heating functions to help seal the deal even further. The Staria is also built on a comfortable set of bones, and it also runs on a 2.2-liter turbo-diesel mill that is respectably smooth and rather peppy to drive given the weight of the model. The interior is also finished with tan leather further adding to the sense of luxury that this model can bring. The Staria Premium line starts with the Staria Premium+ 8AT AWD nine-seater priced at P2,830,000 and is followed by the Staria Premium+ 8AT AWD seven-seater with a price tag of P3,030,000.
Hyundai Custin
Another Hyundai that makes the list is a new one, first introduced in the Philippine market in 2023 as a 2024 year model. The Custin is a seven-seater, and it was unveiled with a launch price of P1,770,000. However, go up a variant and you will get some notable upgrades that'll enhance the experience even more. It's worth noting that all variants of the Custin will come with captains' chairs, but only the top-spec Premium trim level gets all the bells and whistles, similar to the Staria Premium's pair of chairs. The Custin 1.5 T-GDI Premium 8AT is priced at P2,080,000 at the time of writing.
Hyundai Palisade
The Hyundai Palisade sits above the midsize Santa Fe, making it a more proper three-row crossover. Plus, unlike its smaller brother, the Palisade has captain seats which do offer superior comfort for second-row occupants. The lone variant of the Palisade is priced at P3,780,000.
Kia Carnival
Another family that you can opt for is the Kia Grand Carnival. It can either be had as an 11- or 7-seater. Now, if you’re willing to sacrifice its seating capacity over a pair of second-row captain seats, then you can get the range-topping EX 7-seater at just under P2,400,000.
Maxus G10
Both variants of the Maxus G10 come standard with captain seats for the second and third row. What sets the higher trim apart is the addition of an Assist PWD seat which is a welcome feature especially for those with PWD family members who still want to get around. The G10 Elite AT which is the sole variant of the Maxus G10 is priced at P1,890,000.
Mazda CX-8
The Mazda CX-8 is currently the most well-balanced offering from the Japanese automaker. Even its base form, the midsize SUV already has a lot to offer, from its engaging driving dynamics to its premium interior. Between both variants, only the Exclusive trim, priced at P2,490,000, can be had with captain seats.
Subaru Evoltis
The Subaru Evoltis is big, and with all that covered volume, the Japanese automaker was able to fit a pair of captains' chairs inside. It is the biggest crossover in the Subaru lineup yet, and one can argue that it is also the most luxurious. Occupants and drivers can put faith in its driving ability, however, given that it is equipped with the brand's all-wheel-drive system and an ample amount of ground clearance for just about any terrain. The Touring variant of the Evoltis is priced at P3,780,000.
Lexus LM
Last on the list is the bigger brother of the Alphard, the Lexus LM. Equipped with a brand-new hybrid powertrain and a full suite of comfort features, the Lexus LM is designed to be a comfortable and luxurious minivan. In fact, the LM stands for "Luxury Mover". The LM comes in two distinct variants, a seven-seater and a four-seater version. Both variants are equipped with captain's chairs inside along with a host of luxurious amenities. The seven-seater LM is priced at P7,578,000 while the four-seater variant comes in at a staggering P11,808,000
