Named after a beautiful lake within the Native American region, the Chevy Tahoe is one of those big-sized SUVs that can really do much work more in attacking the varying road conditions and elevations we have here in the Philippines. Its sheer size and ride height, not to mention its muscular aesthetics only serve as a teaser to what it is capable of. Inspired by its ye-oldie brother the Suburban, the Tahoe’s payload is enormous, with up to 8 persons seated in pure comfort. Luggage and storage spaces are in an abundance, with plenty more of strategically-placed stowage and cubby holes for the knick-knacks. On-board entertainment is provided by the the Chevrolet MyLink infotainment system. For the long haul, Pinoys will be astounded by its monstrous EcoTec3 5.3L V8, which can reach up to 355hp, and pulling power of a whopping 516Nm of torque. Accompanying that V8 growl is a 10-Speed Automatic gearbox.
The 2022 Tahoe was launched in the Philippines at the Manila International Auto Show (MIAS). The Tahoe was unveiled to the public with the Z71 four-wheel drive package, with this variant being the only option in the Philippines. The Tahoe’s price at launch was P4,749,888.
The Tahoe is a 5-door, full-size SUV with a front-engine, four-wheel drive layout. It sits on the new GMT T1XX platform, used on all of GM’s new trucks and SUVs produced after 2018. The Tahoe is only available in the Philippines as one variant, the Z71 four-wheel drive package.
The source of the Tahoe’s immense muscle is its 5.3 Liter EcoTec V8 engine, feeding the beast is Chevrolet’s Dynamic Fuel Management system with Direct Injection, with the result being 355 American stallions and 518-newton meters of torque at 4,100 RPM. Delivering this power to all four wheels is a 10-speed Automatic transmission with Electronic Precision Shift.
