The Model Y was launched globally in 2020, two years after Tesla teased the vehicle back in 2018. Here in the Philippines, the Model Y made it to our shores through EV Solutions Philippines, being part of its initial offering of Tesla vehicles in the country alongside the Model 3. EV Solutions gave the Model Y a price tag of P4,600,000.

Globally, the Model Y can be had with either a rear-motor, rear-wheel drive setup or a dual-motor, all-wheel drive configuration. This configuration also comes with a choice between battery size, a standard-range battery pack, or a long-range one. Here in the Philippines, the Model Y available through EV solutions comes with a standard range battery pack in a rear-wheel drive configuration.
This variant of the Model Y has 295 hp and 420 Nm of torque allowing it to complete a zero to 100 km/h sprint in just 6.9 seconds. This model is also capable of reaching a claimed range of up to 449 km. Underneath, the Model Y has a double-wishbone front suspension and a five-link independent rear suspension. Stopping power is provided by a set of disc brakes on all four wheels.

The Model Y is fitted with a 15-inch touchscreen which provides the driver access to every feature inside the vehicle. These features include navigation, entertainment, and various vehicle settings. Tesla's sophisticated driver-assistance systems, including Autopilot and Full Self-Driving capabilities, are also accessible, providing an enhanced driving experience and heightened safety features.

The compact electric SUV features a distinct silhouette with smooth lines, a raised roofline, and a streamlined profile that contributes to its aerodynamic efficiency. The front fascia is characterized by a clean and grille-less design, showcasing a minimalist aesthetic, at first glance, the Model Y would look like a raised Model 3. The Model Y shares design elements with its sedan counterpart, the Model 3, but with the added versatility of an SUV body style. The vehicle is equipped with a panoramic glass roof, adding to its modern and open feel.
