Launched quite recently, the SERES 5 is definitely something to consider for anyone looking to jump into a new electric SUV. It comes in Comfort and Premium models with either two-wheel drive or four-wheel drive configurations, so you have options depending on what you are looking for. Aside from being spacious, the SUV is also quick. With room for five and a trunk that can pack between 369L to 776L, it works just about any type of trip. Depending on the model, it moves up to speeds between 200 km/h and 210 km/h, which is pretty nifty for an SUV of its size.
Launch
At the Manila International Auto Show, the SERES 5 was introduced as part of Seres' entry into the local market with a new lineup. The SUV is built to be both spacious and powerful, using a plug-in hybrid system. It can travel up to 1,250 kilometers on a full charge, supported by a 1.5L turbo gasoline engine. You can get it in either rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive, and it delivers up to 480 hp and 664 Nm of power.
Platform, Chassis and Powertrain
Driving smoothly matters, and the SERES 5 delivers with well-thought-out support. It sports a double-wishbone suspension in the front and a multi-link one in the back, making it sturdy yet comfortable over different terrains. It is equipped with an electronic parking brake and runs on strong 255/45 R20 tires. The SUV’s engines provide powerful power, with up to 358 kW and 664 Nm of torque available in the higher-end models, giving it a lot of power for driving on highways and quick starts.

On the technology side, the SERES 5 features a large 10.25-inch display for the driver and an even bigger 15.6-inch touchscreen at the center that makes controlling the car's features easy. The SUV also includes wireless connectivity for your devices and dual-zone climate control that keeps the air just right. If you're worried about your phone dying on the road, don’t; there's a wireless charger ready to use.
Exterior
The SERES 5 looks sleek and is made to be user-friendly. It comes with a large sunroof and door handles that are hidden to add to the efficiency of the body. It is a rather big car at 4770mm long, 1930mm wide, and 1625mm tall, and the wheelbase stretches to 2880mm. Automatic wipers activate in the rain, and the back door opens on its own, which is handy when your hands are full. The SUV also includes cameras that help you see around and under the vehicle, making parking in tight spots easier.
Interior
Inside the SERES 5, you will be greeted with front seats that adjust in 12 ways and have a cooling feature, which is great for hot days. The steering wheel has all kinds of controls built into it, so you can change settings without ever taking your hands off. And for everyone’s gadgets, there are lots of USB ports spread around the cabin.
Safety
When it comes to safety, the SERES 5 is decked out with all the essentials like a tire pressure monitoring system, plus stability control to keep things smooth when the driving gets tough. It is also equipped with smart technology to keep accidents at bay, like lane departure warnings and automatic emergency braking that steps in when you least expect it but need it most.
The SERES 5 boasts an impressive number of airbags for superb safety in the event of a collision. The five-seater variant gets two A pillar airbags, two B pillar airbags, two C pillar airbags, one driver side airbag, one passenger side airbag, as well as airbags on the driver and passenger seat, totalling an impressive 10 airbags.
