Toyota Land Cruiser Overview
The Toyota Land Cruiser is the automaker's longest-running nameplate that is still in production to this day. It comes with a storied linage and heritage that dates back to the 50s that has given the SUV the reputation of being a tried and test vehicle. It has evolved from a full-blooded off-road vehicle into one of the most luxurious SUVs available on the market today.
- Launch
-
Toyota Philippines quietly launched the Land Cruiser on September 8, 2021, and has made the SUV available with two variants. No introductions were needed for such a legendary nameplate. The LC300 was first globally launched in August of 2021 with two engine options and a special GR-Sport variant in the global lineup.
The Philippines received two variants of the full-size SUV, namely the top-of-the-line ZX, and the entry-level VX. The launch price of the Land Cruiser 300 series in the Philippines was P5,1733,000 for the VX and P5,642,000 for the ZX with a P15,000 premium for the special White Pearl Crystal Shine (VX only), and Precious White Pearl (ZX only).
- Platform, Chassis and Powertrain
-
With the update, Toyota was able to enhance the body-on-frame chassis of the prior Land Cruiser 200 series by making the 300 series' 20 percent more rigid and 200 kilograms lighter. The frame rolls on top of a newly-developed suspension system that features refined on-road performance and stability as well as stellar off-road capability. The new platform features a high-mount double-wishbone front and trailing-link rigid-axle rear suspension. The position of the rear shocks is optimized for ride comfort and steering stability, as claimed by Toyota. This system works well to reduce the body roll of the vehicle, as well as maintain the posture of the SUV under heavy braking, on top of this, it is also an adaptive system that utilizes Toyota's Linear Solenoid Adaptive Variable Suspension technology, otherwise known as AVS (for the ZX variant only).
As for its powertrain, the SUV has only one engine option for the Philippines, with a twin-turbo V6 diesel engine that produces 302 hp at 4,000 RPM, and 700 Nm of torque that comes on at 1,600 RPM. Power courses through a 10-speed automatic transmission which features a Torsen LSD found on the ZX variant. All Land Cruiser variants feature a 4x4 drivetrain.
Bringing the 300 series to a halt is a pair of vented discs in the front and a pair in the rear that are housed in 18-inch wheels for the VX and 20-inch wheels in the ZX. The tire size of the new Land Cruiser 300 series is 265/65 R18 for the VX and 265/55 R20 for the ZX.

Toyota has updated the 300 series Land Cruiser with all-new tech features. Starting out with the head unit, the model receives a new 12.3-inch infotainment system complete with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, paired with a JBL sound system comprising of 10 speakers for the VX and up to 14 for the ZX. On top of that, the gauge cluster gets a slight upgrade over the 200 series with a new 7-inch TFT multi-information display with an Eco Lamp and Zone Meter. Driving information is also presented on a heads-up display (HUD) that is an exclusive feature on the range-topping ZX variant of the Land Cruiser 300. Charging can be done through either a USB cable or with Qi wireless charging available in the ZX variant. Rear passengers may also charge their devices with up to two USB-C ports in the second row, and two more in Type-C ports in the third row. To top it all off, there is a rear accessory outlet for other peripheral devices.
Other convenience features in the 300 series include a Smart Entry system with a power tailgate for the ZX variant only. As expected with the keyless-entry system, the SUV also gets a push-start ignition. Other standard features include a four-zone automatic climate control system with Toyota's Nano-E Ionizer technology that promises safe and clean air to breathe inside the cabin of the Land Cruiser.
Making the car much easier to drive is a set of cameras placed in strategic locations around the car which make up the Panoramic View Monitor. Toyota extends the usability of this system by pairing it with a Multi-Terrain Monitor which is perfect for off-road driving. On top of this, the SUV is also equipped with front and rear parking sonars, with four in the front and four in the rear.
- Exterior
-
Coming off the handsome look of the 200 series that preceded it, the 300 series now gets a boxy yet futuristic look with all the latest and greatest exterior functionality and styling that Toyota has to offer. The SUV is packed with LED lighting all around from the headlights to the taillights. The front lamps are a split-type LED that features automatic headlamp leveling, as well as LED daytime running lights. The front turn indicators are also LEDs but with the added flare of being sequential. At the back, the taillights also get the full-LED treatment, however, only the ZX variant can be had with a sequential pair of turn indicators. Finally, Supplementing all of this lighting is a rear foglamp, but the lighting doesn't stop there since Toyota has also equipped its SUV with a set of welcome lamps by the doors.
The other exterior features include a new front bumper design along with a revised hood and a pair of revised fenders for the 300-generation. All Land Cruiser 300s will get a rear spoiler, roof rail, and step board. However, bumping up to the ZX variant will allow customers to enjoy a aero piece for the front and rear bumpers as well as a pintle hook for the rear. On top of that, the standard step boards on the ZX variant will receive a full cover and illumination feature.
- Interior
-
Along with the revised exterior comes a revised interior. The new-generation Land Cruiser gets a totally-new dashboard design clad in soft-touch materials with wood grain serving as the accent pieces in the cabin. The seats of the Land Cruiser come with leather upholstery, and this option is standard for both VX and ZX variants of the SUV. Also standard are the steering wheel audio controls, an 8-way power adjust for the driver seat, and a 6-way power adjust for the passenger. The middle row comes in a 40/20/40 split-fold design, while the third row gets a 50/50 power recline or folding function.
Other creature comforts found in the interior include a cooled storage compartment in the front, an illuminated glovebox, along with multiple ambient lights and auto-dimming mirrors.
- Safety
-
For safety, Toyota equipped its latest and greatest SUV with a prime set of features for the Philippine market. The vehicle will come standard with up to eight SRS airbags, an Antilock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, a pre-collision system, automatic high beam, lane tracing assist, dynamic radar cruise control, vehicle stability control, hill-start assist, downhill assist control, active traction control, crawl control with Multi-Terrain Select and Turn Assist, parking sonars, and finally a 360-degree Panoramic View Monitor plus Multi-Terrain Monitor.
ZX variant exclusives include an adaptive high-beam system, along with a rear Torsen differential with rear torque sensing.
