The Toyota Raize is the Japanese brand's latest entry into the 5-seater subcompact crossover/SUV market. It comes with an angular styling befitting of a sporty crossover and is available with two engine options, the first is a naturally aspirated 1.2-liter and the second is a turbocharged 1.0-liter with both coming in a 3-cylinder format. The Raize also boasts a few key features from the Toyota Safety Sense suite. It's a crossover ideal for young professionals looking for their first car or for those looking to get a reliable secondary vehicle with 200 mm worth of ground clearance.
Launch
The Toyota Raize launched on February 4, 2022, and was made available with four different variants. The subcompact crossover was also made available with two engine options the first being a 1.2-liter 3-cylinder motor, while the second is a 1.0-liter turbocharged 3-cylinder engine. The former produces 86 hp and 113 Nm of torque, while the latter makes 96 hp and 140 Nm of torque. Two transmission options are available for the crossover with the first being a 5-speed manual and the second being a CVT.
Platform, Chassis and Powertrain
Powering the Toyota Raize is either a 1.2-liter naturally aspirated 3-cylinder motor or a 1.0-liter turbocharged 3-cylinder engine. The 1.2-liter motor produces 86 hp and 113 Nm of torque, while the 1.0-liter makes 96 hp and 140 Nm of torque. The Raize sends power exclusively to the front wheels via either a 5-speed manual or a CVT. It rides on a MacPherson strut suspension at the front and a torsion beam set up at the rear. Stopping power comes from ventilated discs at the front and a leading and trailing drum set up at the rear.
The Toyota Raize is available with either an 8- or 9-inch infotainment system with the former being paired with a four-speaker sound system and the latter being paired with a six-speaker sound system. Both infotainment systems are also Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard. Other tech features for the crossover include two USB chargers found at the front and a 12V accessory outlet also found towards the front half of the vehicle. The Raize also features automatic air conditioning for its higher variants, while its lower models get a digital-manual set up instead.
Exterior
The Toyota Raize features an angular SUV-like design with a tall front fascia which comes with either split-type LED headlights or halogen headlights. It also comes with LED daytime running lights as standard for all models and with LED sequential turning lights for higher-spec variants. The crossover also comes with halogen foglamps for all models and LED rear combination lamps as standard as well. The crossover can also be had with either 16- or 17-inch wheels depending on the variant.
Interior
The interior of the Toyota Raize comes with a predominantly black theme with a few silver accents thrown across the dashboard. Its seats can be had as either a combination of leather and fabric for higher-end models or just plain fabric for its lower trim levels. Higher variants get 6-way manual adjustability for the driver's seat, while the lower models get 4-way manual adjustability instead. A 7-inch TFT digital gauge cluster is also available with the vehicle but only to its higher variants, the other models get a segmented-type gauge cluster instead.
Safety
The Toyota Raize standard with ABS, vehicle stability control, hill start assist, an immobilizer, reverse sensors, and driver and passenger airbags. Higher variants gain additional side and curtain shield airbags along with a reverse camera with guidelines, an alarm, clearance and back sonar for the front and rear, a blind spot monitor system, and a rear cross-traffic alert system.

The car is great overall, the only thing i am having a hard time was only during driving at night. I really can’t see the road even turning on the headlight so opt for turning on the foglight as well. Been switching on & off the highbeam when no other vehicle coming in the opposite way. I ask this concern in Toyota La Union Branch during PMS (as i was relocated there) and they told me, it was the standard and can’t do anything about it, & if i opt for changing the headlights set, warranty will be void.
We got this car for the fuel economy, value, and simplicity. On top of that, it's a Toyota - shouldn't deteriorate and depreciate as fast as its Korean and Chinese counterparts.

If you're looking for Fuel Economy and Driving Performance, with a little bit of Interior Space and some comfort. The Toyota Raize may just fit your bill. With the Turbo just a little above 1 million and the lowest variant just below 800K, you can't beat Toyota Raize as a daily driver with some weekend getaways in between. I have personally tested my Turbo in both city and expressway driving and if i'm heavy on the gas, i get around 17-18Km\L. When light on the gas and just cruising, i get about 23-25Km\L. Great choice if you're looking for your first car. Easy engine maintenance.
