Nissan Z Overview
The all-new Nissan Z goes back to its roots with classic design cues taken from past iconic Z models such as the 240Z, 280Z, and 300ZX. It sports a classic sports car silhouette with a long hood and sweeping roofline that gives presence and character to the car. It is also the first Z model to feature turbocharging since the 300ZX. Of course, it won’t be a Z without rear-wheel drive as well.
- Launch
-
The Nissan Z was launched as a prototype back in 2020 and then entered production in 2021, which is faithful to the prototype specifications. It was made to replace the aging 370Z, which has been on the market since 2008.
- Platform, Chassis and Powertrain
-
The Nissan Z is a reworked platform of the 370Z, which was also a reworked platform of the 350Z. Dubbed the RZ34, the all-new Nissan Z now features turbocharging for the first time since the 300ZX model in the 80s and 90s via a VR30DDTT 3.0-liter V6 engine making 378 hp and 475 Nm of torque exclusively to the rear wheels with a six-speed manual transmission or a Mercedes-Benz-sourced 9G nine-speed Automatic Transmission. In order to effectively stop the car, the Z is equipped with four-piston Akebono brakes, sitting behind 19-inch Rays Forged wheels wrapped in 255/40/R19 at the front and 275/35/R19 tires at the rear.

6-Speed Manual Transmission with SynchroRev Match - Technology Features
-
The Nissan Z features a 12.3-inch customizable digital instrument cluster wherein drivers can monitor the car’s vital statistics and conditions. On the infotainment side, the Nissan Z gets a nine-inch NissanConnect infotainment display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with USB-C and USB-A ports for charging and connectivity. To complement the infotainment system, the Z is equipped with an eight-speaker Bose sound system featuring Active Noise Cancellation and Active Sound Enhancement.
The Z still gets the iconic triple pod gauge cluster showing Turbo boost, Turbine speed, and Voltage.
- Exterior
-
The Nissan Z gets a reworked exterior featuring heavy design cues from the past iconic Z models. The front and overall shape of the car, with its headlights, long hood, and sloping roofline, is inspired by the 240Z and 280ZX models, along with classic Z badging on the side. The rear taillights are inspired by the 300ZX model. The overall design is rounded up by staggered Rays 19-inch forged wheels.
- Interior
-
The Z uses a lot of parts from the older 370Z model, along with other Nissan models, so there is still a lot that looks familiar, which includes the door lock switches and dome lights. However, the Z is much more driver-focused, with the infotainment angled slightly towards the driver as well as important buttons well within reach.
The Z gets a choice of three interior options: black, black/red, and black/blue, which adds to the overall aesthetic and feel of the interior. One interesting thing to note is the steering wheel is heavily inspired by the R32 GT-R since, according to Nissan, it is one of the best steering wheel shapes they have made.
- Safety
-
The Nissan Z gets the full suite of Nissan Intelligent Mobility with Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Blind Spot Warning, Lane Departure Warning, and High Beam Assist, along with additional Intelligent Cruise Control and Intelligent Forward Collision Warning. Should the worst-case scenario happen, the Z is equipped with six airbags to protect its occupants.
